It's amazing how a little progress can make you feel so good. After such a long wait we're ecstatic to see even a single nail driven or to watch dirt being moved.
Even the parcela dogs are pretty excited. They've been monitoring the progress all week.

Everybody's excited

The excavation was finished pretty quickly and now we've got a nice big hole in the ground. Maybe we should pitch a tent here?

Excavation's finished

Supplies are delivered. Now they can start on the bodega to store things while the construction is on-going.

Wood delivery

Our meter's all ready. You can see our neighbor's casa and the ever present volcano in the background.

We've got luz!!

We've decided on a pequena bodega en el bosque instead of a little house on the prarie. This is Chile after all.

Let's put the bodega in the bosque

The foundation is laid for the bodega.

Poco a poco

The retaining wall will be made of pirca (volcanic rock). Juan's sloping the wall.

Juan starts on the pirca wall

Valdovino (el maestro) and his son make quick work of the bodega.

El maestro finishes up the framing

Normally you have a party when the techo is added, but only for the real house.

Time for the techo

We should even have enough room for a few gallenas.

I think the bodega's bigger then the cabaña

Of course, we have to have a ventana. We've even got a ventana

The footing for the pirca wall is almost ready.
