Construction Progress - week 1

Our first full week of construction.
It's amazing how a little progress can make you feel so good. After such a long
wait we're ecstatic to see even a single nail driven or to watch dirt being
moved.
Even the parcela dogs are pretty excited. They've been monitoring the progress
all week.

The excavation was finished pretty quickly and now we've got a nice big hole in
the ground. Maybe we should pitch a tent here?

Supplies are delivered. Now they can start on the bodega to store things while
the construction is on-going.

Our meter's all ready. You can see our neighbor's casa and the ever present
volcano in the background.

We've decided on a pequena bodega en el bosque instead of a little house on the
prarie. This is Chile after all.

The foundation is laid for the bodega.

The retaining wall will be made of pirca (volcanic rock). Juan's sloping the
wall.

Valdovino (el maestro) and his son make quick work of the bodega.

Normally you have a party when the techo is added, but only for the real
house.

We should even have enough room for a few gallenas.

Of course, we have to have a ventana.
The footing for the pirca wall is almost ready.
