Deluxe Living in Pucón

We now have accomodations for Guests!
We can ALL breathe easier now that we have Moved into a REAL HOME with
Space! We are VERY fortunate to have the friendship of the landowners of Saltos
de Mariman – (the locale of Our Parcela). They hooked us up with friends of
theirs who were looking for new tenants for one of their homes. We signed an 8
month lease which will HOPEFULLY provide us with housing until Our house is
completed.
Talk about Extremes - The 265 sq ft. Cabana to an Estate!! The house has two
sections – the main house and a casita –guest house to the right of the car
port. The home is located on a hectarea – approximately 2 ½ acres and is
located about ¾ of a mile from the cabana. The main house has two bedrooms, a
huge loft, living room/dining room, kitchen and 3 bathrooms. The Hot Water
system IS Perfect! We are able to adjust the water temperature – NO MORE
SCALDING SHOWERS!!! The casita has a bedroom, bathroom and laundry
area.
We have AMPLE room for many VISITORS!
The other SIGNIFICANT accomplishment is that we have OUR furniture! It makes
living here FEEL more and more like HOME! (I also bought a TV (Chile only has 3
stations) so I HAD to sign up for DirecTV - to Dennis’s dismay) Oh, and we have
a Telephone (but it is set up for local calls Only). We still have lousy
reception so No Dial Up capabilities for Internet – I believe we will be
relying on Internet Cafes for quite some time. However – I am now the proud
owner of a dual Washer/Dryer and can do my own laundry! (There are many quirks
to doing laundry here and this will require a separate Blog entry at a later
date.)

Time for some wine

Lester´s not so thrilled with the TV

The Loft - Blog central (before we head off to the Internet cafe)

The ‘estate’ is beautifully landscaped with the incredible Native trees and
shrubs of Chile (Dennis will provide a blog entry on the Arboles Nativos at a
later date), ornamentals like Rhododendrons, azaleas, Japanese Maples,
camellias, dahlias, lilies, a few fruit trees, a garden area and Green
House!

Wow! What a difference! I can't believe you and Dennis didn't kill each other before this living in such tiny quarters! Glad to hear that all is well! Keep the updates coming! Love, Mary
This place looks WAY better than the Cabana!!
Love reading the updates!
Take care!
What a relief to hear you've moved to a normal-sized home! Those cats must be thinking "finally, they smartened-up". It looks alot better and your spirits sound so much better, too. Great news.
Glad to see you are in a much roomier place! I bet there's room for one more cat - and Kirby already speaks espanol! Hope the garden is doing well - my potatoes peas and early vege's are in. Take care! Jim V.
Wow!! What beautiful views! I am so glad you got to move into a house with your own furniture!! Thank God!! I still find it hard to believe you all are there! I was at this French Bakery here near our house and this guy there was showing everyone pictures (poster sized) of his trip to Patagonia on the Chile side. Beautiful!! Anyway, it's great to hear from you guys and we're glad everything is moving along! Go Direct TV!
Much love to you both!!
Daniela
We ar so glad you have more space to breathe and develop your new life in. The house looks GREAT. I await with anticipation Dennis' treatise on the native trees of Chile - am sincerely interested. Life continues apace in Claremont.
Happy Easter to you both!
Hi Y'all,
Looks great! Gert should be able to blog soon.
Tried to be cheery about the tiny place, but it looked like quite a challenge. Hooray for the progress with the construction. How exciting!!! You seem very happy. Namaste
Hi Dear gringos of Mariman.
Las fotos están fantásticas!
It seems that the adjustment period is almost over. Is that right? You're living a fantastic experience. Enjoy each minute of it. New friends, a new home camming up, beautiful nature all around you, great wine etc.
Namaste/ Miryam
Hi Cyndy and Dennis,
I happened to find your blog. Haven't read all of it but get the idea that you are really happy to have made the move to Pucon.
My wife and I are going to live in Pucon part-time, maybe 3 months a year at first. We had a house built in Candelaria near the Sammasati meditation center over the last two years , which is 99% finished now. That required quite a few trips to Pucon and we love it there too! We'll be down again from late October to Thanksgiving and again in January. Perhaps we could meet one of those times. You can see our house, which we rent out by the week when we aren't there, at
