Construction Progress - week 25

Delayed, but not forgotten
In case anyone had forgotten, as the week started the ongoing revestimiento
of the outside of the casa continued. So let's circle around the house to check
on the siding installation. Last week our crew finished most of the uphill side
of the casa, leaving only one corner of the top facade uncovered. As expected,
on Monday I found Jorge and Juan tackling that section.
In the meantime, Valdovino and Leo began covering the walls of the entrada
to the pasillo.
Our equipo made such good progress on Monday that Mother Nature decided to
slow things down a bit the next day. Another ho-hum snow storm worsened the
conditions for photos and siding installation.
Thankfully, a high pressure system blew in on Wednesday blessing us with
mostly clear weather through the weekend. Moving around the steps, the crew
started in on the downhill side of the casa.
With the pasillo entrada finished Jorge and Juan climbed back on the
scaffolding to complete the facade over the dormitorio.
Even the leaderhead gained a stylish siding finish. Don't worry all that
tape will disappear once the glued joints have dried.
At the same time, Leo worked on the walls along the pasillo. We had a few
concerns that the small sections between the windows would take a long time
because of the cutting and fitting required, but Leo had no problems with the
initial portion.
With the siding finished on one side, the hojalateros reappeared to cap the
top of the walls. The remains of the snowfall cast an icy chill on these
sheetmetal caps.
During the snow Valdovino warmed up a bit by finishing the plywood covering
on the wall leading into the dormitorio.
The other Juan waited for a refill of pirca in order to start on the next
part of the wall. On Thursday, still waiting, he crawled under the pasillo to
remove the wooden framing. We finally got a good view of our flying
terazza.
Speaking of terazzas, on Friday the fierro crew added the steel frame for
the stairs to the upper terazza.
The gasfiters kept busy as well. This week they took delivery on a bright
new fossa tank for the septic system.
But the priority for the gasfiters was inside the casa. First, they laid
down mesh to prepare for the radiant floor heating system.
The radiant system circulates warm water through coils tied to the mesh
beneath the finished floor.
The gasfiters laid out the continuous coils over the entire floor. Using
radiant heating should provide winter comfort at a significantly lower cost,
but more on that a little later.
So here we are with the latest view of the casa. Now we get some idea of
the finished look with the flying pasillo and terazza.
At weeks end I enjoyed the sunset over the parcela and looked forward to
next week. Hasta la proxima!!

That radiant heating system looks cool, I mean hot. It will be interesting to see how the guys cover it.
